Since his election in 2019, Mayor Genrich has been the focus of relentless right-wing attacks. The forces of extremism are ramping it up during his re-election because they don’t want our progress to continue.

We won’t reinforce the lies here, but we will give you the facts.

The Truth behind the False City Hall Security Smear Attack:

Here’s the truth: cameras have been in city hall for a very long time. Cameras with audio capabilities have been in place at our Police Department lobby for nearly a decade and within the lobby at Green Bay Metro Transit since 2009. Cameras with limited audio capabilities were added to city hall in 2021 at the suggestion of senior staff and with the support and guidance of the Green Bay Police Department due to harassment and threats directed at members of the press and city staff.

You can read these facts for yourself: Fact Check.

The Truth About Green Bay Elections:

The City of Green Bay runs free and fair elections whose integrity have never been legitimately called into question by a court of law or the Wisconsin Elections Commission. In the face of a once-in-a-century pandemic, Mayor Genrich and Green Bay’s Common Council invested in election infrastructure and expanded the opportunity for eligible residents to vote.

You can read the truth about the 2020 election here for yourself: Election Report

Since 2020, the city has been targeted by an extreme group of election denialists and a radical right-wing media ecosystem that wasted nearly $2 million taxpayer dollar on a phony investigation led by Michael Gableman.

The truth is that those same radical “election denying” activists are supporting our opponent who is someone that has a record attacking organized labor, undermining reproductive rights, and restricting the freedom to vote.

The Truth About Taxes and Public Safety:

Before my election, the City of Green Bay cut its police force. Additionally, for over 18 years, our City did not conduct a reassessment of commercial and residential property, placing the city in a precarious financial position and putting our community out of compliance with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.

Recognizing the need to conduct a revaluation of properties within the City of Green Bay, our Common Council unanimously authorized and funded a city-wide revaluation.

While property tax rates have been reduced dramatically, the value of residential property has obviously increased since 2004.

The truth is the largest proportion of city tax dollars are used to fund our Police and Fire Departments, including the addition of 7 new police officers and more firefighters to improve public safety. You can see our budget chart here: 2023 Budget Proposal

We know that people want to see improvements in local services, but our opponent, Chad Weininger, is being hypocritical and playing politics with these attacks. In fact, Weininger is the architect behind Brown County’s sales tax, which increased taxes for Brown County taxpayers by more than$150 million dollars.

We know voters will see these disingenuous attacks for what they are and support our work to make progress for Green Bay, but we need your help. Feel free to spread the facts with friends and family, online and in-person, in the weeks ahead. With the support of the people of Green Bay and with the facts on our side, we will win in April!
